Fibre Reinforced Cement Boards

A1 Non-Combustible Structural Sheathing Board

1. Product Description

Fibre Reinforced Cement Boards are high-performance, A1 non-combustible construction boards designed for structural applications in floors, walls, and ceilings, suitable for both internal and external use.

Manufactured from cement reinforced with fibres, these boards provide exceptional mechanical strength, dimensional stability, and fire performance. They are a superior alternative to plywood and plasterboard and are engineered to function as a structural sheathing solution rather than an insulation-type backer board.

2. Key Features

  • A1 Non-Combustible Fire Resistance (EN 13501-1)

  • Structural-grade performance

  • High impact resistance

  • Moisture and mould resistant

  • Suitable for internal and external applications

  • Excellent dimensional stability

  • Compatible with a wide range of finishes

  • Square edge profile for easy jointing

4. Applications

Suitable for use in:

  • Structural sheathing systems

  • Internal partitions

  • Suspended ceilings

  • External facades

  • Wet rooms and bathrooms

  • Behind stoves and fireplaces

  • High-impact areas

  • Fire protection layers

Stud Walls & Ceilings

  • 9mm or 12mm boards recommended for increased strength, rigidity, and improved acoustic performance.

  • For enhanced fire and acoustic performance:

    • Install a 6–12mm base layer

    • Overlay with a staggered 12mm top layer to reinforce joints and improve performance

5. Installation Guidelines

Cutting

  • Score and snap (similar to plasterboard), or

  • Cut using hand or power saw

  • Use dust extraction when cutting with power tools

Fixing Methods

Installation method depends on substrate, location, and final finish. Boards can be fixed using:

  • Mechanical screws

  • Adhesives

  • Drylining systems

  • Joint taping systems

Boards may be directly fixed to solid substrates.

For project-specific installation guidance, consult the technical team.

6. Finishing Options

Boards accept a wide range of finishes including:

  • Paint

  • Ceramic tiles

  • Natural stone

  • Plaster

  • Render

  • Screed

  • Cladding systems

  • Decorative finishes

7. Performance Summary

These fibre cement boards are engineered to perform reliably in hot, cold, wet, and dry environments. Their structural strength, fire resistance, and moisture stability make them suitable for demanding applications where traditional plasterboard or plywood would be inadequate.

8. Storage & Handling (Recommended)

  • Store flat on a dry, level surface

  • Protect from prolonged exposure to weather prior to installation

  • Handle with care to prevent edge damage
