Fibre Cement Boards
A1 Non-Combustible Fire Resistance
Ideal for structural applications on floors, walls, or ceilings—indoors or outdoors.
These fibre reinforced cement boards are a superior replacement for plywood and plasterboard, offering A1 Non-Combustible Fire Resistance, exceptional strength, and long-term dimensional stability.
Unlike insulation-type backer boards, they are designed to perform as a structural sheathing solution, even in demanding environments.
Cutting & Fitting
- Boards Can Be Scored & Snapped Like Plasterboard, Or Cut With A Hand Or Power Saw (Use Dust Extraction With Power Tools)
- Flexible Install Methods: Fix With Screws, Adhesives, Drylining Systems, Or Joint Taping
- Method Depends On The Substrate, Location, & Intended Finish
- For Project-Specific Applications, Contact Our Technical Team
Usage
- Suitable For Wet Rooms, Behind Stoves / Fireplaces, High-Impact Areas, & External Facades
- Resistant To Fire, Moisture, & Mould — Performs Reliably In Hot, Cold, Wet, Or Dry Conditions
- Direct Fixing To Solid Substrates
- On Stud Walls Or Suspended Ceilings: 9mm or 12mm Boards Recommended For Added Strength, Rigidity, & Soundproofing
- For Maximum Performance: Use A 6–12mm Base Layer Topped With A Staggered 12mm Layer To Reinforce Joints, Improve Acoustic Insulation, & Enhance Fire Resistance

These are A1 non-combustible fibre reinforced cement boards, 1200 x 800mm, in 6mm, 9mm and 12mm, sold by the pallet: 25, 50, 75, 100 or 150 boards with delivery to mainland UK included in the price. They replace plywood and plasterboard as a structural sheathing board on floors, walls and ceilings, inside or out, wet or dry: non-combustible, resistant to water and mould, and dimensionally stable. Trade and stockist accounts get trade pricing on every pallet size.
Is cement board fireproof?
These boards are A1 non-combustible to EN 13501-1 and comply with BS 476-4 Grade A. Their listed uses include fire protection layers, behind stoves and fireplaces, wet rooms, high-impact areas and external facades. For project-specific applications, contact our technical team.
Which thickness
On stud walls and suspended ceilings, 9mm or 12mm boards are recommended for added strength, rigidity and soundproofing. For maximum performance, use a 6 to 12mm base layer topped with a staggered 12mm layer to reinforce the joints, improve acoustic insulation and add fire resistance. For anything else, ask the technical team before you order the pallet.
Buying fibre cement board by the pallet
The smallest order is 25 boards, which is 24 square metres, and the price shown includes palletised delivery to mainland UK. The boards score and snap like plasterboard or cut with a hand or power saw, with dust extraction on power tools, and fix with screws, adhesive, a drylining system or taped joints depending on the substrate and finish. Trade accounts get trade pricing on all five pallet sizes.
Fibre cement board questions we get asked
Can I buy a single sheet?
No. The boards are sold by the pallet, from 25 boards (24 square metres), with delivery to mainland UK included in the price.
Can fibre cement board be used outside?
Yes. The board is made for internal and external use and is resistant to water and mould, so it is used as external sheathing and in wet areas as well as on dry internal walls and floors.
Can I tile onto it?
Yes. Tiles and stone are among the finishes it accepts, along with paint, plaster, render, screed and cladding. For the adhesive and build up on a specific job, ask the technical team.
Is this the same as a tile backer board?
No. Our tile backer boards are insulation boards. These fibre cement boards are designed to perform as structural sheathing, a replacement for plywood and plasterboard. Different job, different board.
